Day 1 :

Arrival in Kigoma – Transfer to Mahale Mountains

Arrive in Kigoma by flight or road transfer, then transfer by boat to Mahale Mountains National Park. Settle into your lodge or tented camp and enjoy an orientation session about the park and chimpanzee tracking. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 2 - 3 :

Chimpanzee Tracking in Mahale Mountains

Spend two full days tracking wild chimpanzees with expert guides. Trek through dense tropical forest, observing chimpanzee families, their playful interactions, and other wildlife such as red colobus monkeys, bush pigs, and various bird species. Optional scenic walks around the park or relax at your lodge in the afternoon. Overnight at Mahale lodge or camp.

Day 4 :

Transfer to Nkungwe Base & Start Trek

After breakfast, transfer to the base of Nkungwe. Begin the ascent through forested slopes, enjoying rich flora, waterfalls, and spectacular valley views. Overnight in a mountain camp at a comfortable mid-point along the trail.

Day 5 :

Summit Nkungwe & Descend

Rise early for the final ascent to Nkungwe Summit. Witness panoramic views over Lake Tanganyika and the surrounding Mahale Mountains—an unforgettable sunrise experience. Descend to the base and transfer to Kigoma by boat or vehicle for overnight at a lodge.

Day 6 :

Departure from Kigoma
