After registration and a brief introduction to the trek, you’ll start your ascent through the lush montane forest, home to a variety of wildlife, including colobus monkeys and vibrant bird species. The hike to Old Moses Camp (3,300m), covering 9km, takes 3-4 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Upon arrival, you’ll settle in for the night at the camp, enjoying a warm meal and preparing for the next day’s adventure.
After an early breakfast, you’ll continue the ascent, trekking through the scenic moorland zone characterized by unique flora such as giant lobelias and groundsel plants. The trail crosses the Ontulili and Likii rivers before leading you into the Mackinder Valley, which offers awe-inspiring views of the mountain’s peaks.
